| In the news "Vacation homes rarely live up to the name. While a house at the beach or on the lake is a great getaway place, it usually is not home in any real sense. But five years ago, David and Jan Kirkpatrick found a true second home, and they found it on the other side of the Atlantic, in Dorset in the southwest of England...." (.pdf format) |
Guest comments "I found the cottage originally in 2002 by looking for somewhere to stay in Dorset using Google. There had been nothing that appealed in the usual cottage agencies. Old Gaol came up somehow - could have been Special Places to Stay - and I contacted Nicki, she sent your brochure, and I just knew I'd love it..." |

Our whole family just loves our time in Cerne Abbas. It is with great joy that we share it with family, friends and guest.

This poem captures our attraction to village life which certainly comes true with every visit to Cerne Abbas:

Our Village
Lodged deep in most of us is a need for roots and permanence,
and the village symbolizes a place from which
strength and reassurance may be drawn,
where the past is always present,
neighborliness is a way of life and
where no man needs to be a stranger
